COMPLEX NM

Site: Katano City, Osaka
Use: Mixed use (shop/office/residential)
Design: Akihiro Yoshida
Builder: Nomura Koumuten
Completion: 06. 2024

This is a complex of shops, offices, and apartments in Katano City, Osaka Prefecture.
We started the project with a clear flow line for each use, while considering how each facility could take advantage of the plaza at the center of the complex.

The plaza, which can be seen from the restaurant, functions as a show garden for the restaurant, a small park in front of the residential apartments for the complex, and for the offices, not only as an approach, but also as a pull-out space to enhance the privacy of the multi-purpose room at the rear of the building.

Since there are no large volume buildings in the neighborhood, the design is based on horizontal lines that resemble the ridgelines of mountains seen in the distance to soften the volume of this building.
The building tackled many difficult issues, including a three-dimensional parking lot, overlapping volumes for different uses, complex flow lines, and a challenging structural plan, but we believe we have succeeded in creating a collection of spaces that will be enjoyed by those who use the facility every day.
