FLAT KIYOKAWA

Located in Taito Ward, this is a collective housing with an extra space for commercial use on the first floor.
The way the house adjoins the road is typical of urban districts which prevents us from taking advantage of the maximum possible space if we candidly followed the legal restrictions. Our aspirations were to minimize the common area and to give each living unit the benefit of a nice view of the park in front.

In achieving them, we divided the building into two in longitudinal direction and let the opening open up to the road side (park side) as much as possible.
This way, residents can overlook the park and the view spreading out before them from the large opening of the living room where the house meets the sun. The bedroom is arranged on the other side to protect privacy. With the proactive design of the common area which is often left dark and tends to be the unfavorable part of a building, we created a space to which residents would take delight in coming back every day.
This is a project accomplished upon the owner’s wish for a quality rental apartment.
