Flat Okayama is a three-story wooden condominium.
Because the site has such a complicated shape, we were asked to arrange the building on the site efficiently. In addition, the site is surrounded by condominiums, which raises the need to locate the residences and plan openings carefully, increasing the difficulty when planning this building. However, as we looked closely at the site, the composition of the building fell into place and the plan became something more convincing.
At the same time, we constantly thought about what we can do to make a wooden apartment building attractive and took into consideration airflow and lighting to design it with corridors that pass through without dead ends; we also created skylights and open spaces so that the stairwells would not be dark and pursued comfort in the shared spaces as well.
Each residence has been designed with a large balcony where residents can enjoy a private outdoor space.
Accurately reading the site and seeking quality in spaces has given a richness to the day-to-day lives of the residents and resulted in an attractive condominium that they will love to come home to every day.
