Flat Miyano is a three-story wooden condominium.
Because the site was highly appealing due to its location within a short walk from the station, as long as the negative element of being in the middle of a shopping district could be resolved, it should be possible to offer it to potential residents as an attractive property.
From this point of view, the client consulted us to ask how, then, we could solve this problem. What can be done to balance resolving the feeling of being closed in by the surrounding environment with ensuring privacy? This was our first step in approaching the project.
The key is the one-tsubo (about 3.3 m2) outdoor space included in each residence, which brings light into the residence, and the sunk opening is also useful in ensuring privacy.
As more and more people require space to work while being able to switch gears at home due to changes towards a working style where people do their jobs remotely, we look forward to this space being used flexibly in this sense as well. We have realized a building gathering residences with an attractive space that serves as a feature in everyday life, where people can enjoy a book, a cup of tea, or something stronger on days with seasonal, pleasant weather.
