This is a home to a family of five.
The home is found in a neighborhood which has been neatly rezoned by the city development regulation, with wide frontal road and large, urbane buildings.
Our client had preference for facade as the site was in the corner of a block and requested a house with presence while respecting the overall cityscape.
The project depended on our ability to meet the client’s request due to the regelation limiting height, roof shape, finishing, exterior, setback and so on.
We designed a spacious entrance by giving a ceiling height higher than that of common residences.
The light coming in from the sash window gently illuminates the walls and the ceiling and creates a friendly atmosphere of the massive entrance.
The desperately requested wide garden is separated from the outside by the volume of the building, allowing the garden to be visible from anywhere in the building but still protecting the privacy of the garden itself.
The continuity of the garden and the house enhances the extensiveness of the spatial design.
The living room comes with a sunken fireplace and sofas are arranged around it for the family and their guests to spend some quality time together.
We separated the kitchen from the dining room as we have been informed that the owner enjoys blending different spices when cooking.
However, since we still wanted to maintain visual continuity, we employed a small glass window through which the kitchen can command a view of the dining room.
The harmony with the surrounding buildings, the dynamism of the houses and the extension of the space with the continuity between the outside and the inside—this is a residence achieved after various challenges and numerous trials and errors in the face of strict regulations.
