This is a residence for a family of five in Meguro City.
Considering the number of people in the family, but also allowing for the restrictions imposed by a site located in a low-rise residential area, we decided on a two-story building with a single basement floor so that we could maximize the use of the site.
The shared space of the living and dining area continues to the balcony to make it feel several times larger than its actual area, and we placed window frames with large openings on the wall facing the balcony. In addition, the living room connects to the loft via an atrium. This transforms the place where the family always spends time into a light-filled, open space that gently sparks communication among the family members. The area above the parking space is connected to the living room as a balcony, but we planned for it to function as a semi-outdoor space, just as if it were part of the living room.

By resolving the issue of extracting the greatest possible potential from the site and having it function in ways that exceed the actual area of the site several times over, which the client also requested, we have created a fun residence filled with playfulness and attractive qualities.
