HOUSE KUGAYAMA

This project is located on a site surrounded by a beautiful field in the middle of Tokyo.
The house is designed for a family of three.
The family expressed that they did not need a big house; hence, we designed the house with adequate balance in volume between the building and the landscape.
Since the field (about 200 m long by 20 m wide) is significantly located to the north of the project site, we planned the living room on the northern side of the house so that the occupants can enjoy the beautiful scenery from there anytime.
To obtain more sunlight during winter, we designed a high side window on the south wall in the living room.
We also created a small roof balcony originally designed to allow more sunlight into the living room, but the client likes the idea of being able to use the space as a private roof balcony, so we designed access through the loft to get to it.
Although the house design is compact, it has many rational ideas, fun spaces, and is set in a beautiful landscape.
